In these prints, Lee works with his distinct visual vocabulary of symbols and forms. Twisting ribbons, vessels, crosses and blossoms—which often represent spritual ideas— evoke tableaux of the imagination. Like his paintings, the prints are in a square format and are created with a vivid palette. Because of the woodblock printing process, the prints posses a translucence and explicitness that differ from his other work, which is made of layered enamel on copper or on wood panels.
